Complacency and awareness are incompatible with one another. When we become aware, we reclaim power from hucksters, snake-oil peddlers, and thieves and re-invest it in our own agency.
When we have the freedom to make any decision, what good does it do to make choices that ultimately rob us of our agency? It’s tantamount to delegating one of life’s most challenging and enriching activities: choosing.
Being aware of our innate ability to choose, despite the hardships that might occur as a direct result of that choice, can overcome nearly any obstruction or delay. So, again I ask: why delegate or decline to act?
